The 53rd Regional Restoration Camp (RRC) will take place in Kruja, Albania from April 6–16, 2025.
What is the content of this restoration camp?
RRC 53 will combine theoretical knowledge with practical on-site work. Participants will have the chance to attend valuable presentations from acknowledged national and international experts in the field of restoration/conservation and also will have a unique opportunity to gain invaluable hands-on experience in the art of restoration, learning from skilled local crafts person’s to preserve our cultural heritage using traditional tools and methods.
Who is the camp for?
This camp is open to students studying architecture, archaeology, engineering, cultural heritage management, conservation of works of art as well as young professionals in these fields.
Please note:
- If you have previously attended a CHwB Albania camp with a restoration theme, you are not eligible to apply for this camp.
- However, if your prior camp participation was in a different thematic camp, you are welcome to apply.

Regional Restoration Camp 53 is organized with funding from the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) and Swedish Institute (SI) in collaboration with CHwB Sweden.
What’s special about Kruja?
Kruja is a symbol of Albanian pride. The city offers a unique blend of history, culture, natural beauty, and spirituality for anyone exploring Albania.
Kruja, a historic city in Albania, is famous as the stronghold of national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, who led the resistance against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century. Perched on Mount Kruja, the city offers stunning views and rich cultural experiences.
Key attractions include the Kruja Castle, housing the Skanderbeg Museum and the Ethnographic Museum, and the charming Old Bazaar, where traditional crafts and souvenirs abound. The nearby Dollma Tekke highlights Kruja’s spiritual heritage, while Mount Kruja and Qafë-Shtama National Park provide natural beauty and hiking opportunities.
Working in this location the participants will have the opportunity to discover and enjoy these attractions!

DATES: 6th – 16th of April 2025
* The organizers reserve the right to change the days, time, and location(s) of the Camp due to technical or organizational needs by announcing such changes in advance.
- Fees & Scholarships The fee for participation in the Camps is 900 euros. This fee will cover tuition, on-site accommodation (including breakfast and one meal), camp materials, and tools, emergency health insurance, and planned excursions. For all accepted applicants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, and Ukraine, there will be a scholarship to cover the costs of the Camp. The scholarship will pay the full 900 Euro fee.
- Participants will be responsible for their travel to and from the Camp locations. These costs are not included in the participation fee. *** Participants from Ukraine will have their travel to and from Albania covered.
